Richmond Birdwing Sighted!

A male Richmond BIrdwing Butterfly turned up in a garden on Booloumba Creek last September - see photo. This butterfly is threatened in Queensland so it is exciting to find it in the valley, only 200m from where Hinterland Bush Links was launched.

There were already plans to plant out the larval food vine at the launch site and elsewhere on Booloumba Creek to encourage the butterfly into the area, so this is a bonus. The butterfly is known further upstream in the Conondale National Park and also on the other side of the Mary valley.

Creating wildlife corridors to connect these sites will enhance the survival of this beautiful butterfly.
