The Hinterland Bush Links project area is in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast in South-east Queensland. It includes the coastal plain and a series of coastal ranges that rise to over 800m. In the south of the area, the prominent volcanic plugs of the Glasshouse Mountains punctuate the landscape. The Mary and the Brisbane rivers have the most extensive catchments in the region.  This area enjoys a sub-tropical climate with annual rainfall of up to 2 metres in the ranges.
